My name is Deana Rahn-Lawler. I have taught as an elementary school teacher since 2000. I was also a Literacy Coach for two years which led to the development of this company. While working with teachers, I noticed trends of frustration, disappointment, and hindrances that plagued teachers in their efforts to provide the best instruction for their students. Some of the trends included, repetitive professional development, introduction of new resources with no training or assimilation to prior knowledge, and excessive, repetitive paperwork. My goal, as a Curriculum Diva, is to give teachers theme-based, fun, and concise professional development with access to materials that decrease workload, encourages efficiency and the feeling of accomplishment, and lifts morale.
I love to travel. My latest trip to Iceland gave me great pictures for units based on Puffins, Islands, volcanoes, and rock formations. I have a son in fourth grade, two dogs, and two cats. My husband is my number one fan. God and family are top priorities in my life and without them my dream of starting this company would not realized.
My name is Kimberly Sheppard. I have taught high school in France for one year and then came back to the states to teach middle school special education. After four years, I started working at the elementary level and have loved it! I just completed my Doctorate in School Improvement focused on Online Blended and the Flipped Classroom. I enjoy making curriculum forms that help make my life and the lives of those around me easier. With the new standards, common core resources have become necessary to have a large number of them available. Teaching is such a joy but even more so when the paperwork surrounding my daily job is easier.
Travel is a passion. If I am not traveling by myself or with family and friends, I travel with high school students. It is so exciting seeing famous historical landmarks through their eyes. Through numerous opportunities, I have been blessed to travel to six of the seven continents. At some point I will get around to Antarctica.
My name is Katie Dodgen, and I am currently in my sixth year of teaching. I have taught second grade for five years and third grade for one year. I received my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University in 2007, and I later went on to receive my Masters in Elementary Reading and Mathematics from Walden University in 2009. This past year, I completed my Gifted Endorsement through Griffin RESA.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family whether it is traveling or doing something else. I also enjoy reading, shopping, and scrapbooking when I can find the time.
